The Barnabas Connection started the Christmas Store in 2014 as a pilot program with the intention of serving 16 families.
In 2015, Cypress Creek Church, Wimberley UMC, Unity of Wimberley, Wimberley High School Senior Outreach, and Wimberley Rotary Club partnered with The Barnabas Connection donating new toys, household items, tools, coats and books with a goal of expanding The Christmas Store to assist 30 families. Families applied to be able to shop and by the closing of the store on December 8, 56 local families had shopped at The Christmas Store. Each family was allowed to spend up to $35 in the store on items priced at 25% of the retail value, as well as pick out a book or book set per child in the family for free. Parents are free to shop for anyone they wish. The Wimberley Rotary Club provided the new books and gave out 110! Emily Ann Theater donated strands of lights that were well received by the families and a generous donor provided multiple boxes of Christmas decorations that were also shared and well received. The remaining merchandise in The Christmas Store was shared with Wimberley Gold Santa, Wimberley Senior Activity Center and a few WISD campuses.
