The Barnabas Connection in partnership with Wimberley UMC, Cypress Creek Church, Unity of Wimberley, Wimberley Presbyterian and Wimberley Rotary Club are providing Christmas assistance in December 2016 through “The Christmas Store.”
The goal is to provide Christmas assistance that builds dignity and allows local families to purchase Christmas gifts at a very low cost: new items will be marked at 75% or below retail. This project is based on a “Christmas Store” that has functioned successfully in Dallas, Texas for many years.
Approximately 60 families have been selected to participate from completed applications. Chosen families will be invited to spend up to $30-$35 during their shopping experience. The approximate cost to sponsor one family is $140.
We hope to be able to provide an assortment of NEW household items, toys, games, bicycles, coats, etc. to choose from. Shoppers are not be required to spend the total amount and will be encouraged to purchase items they want for the people they want to shop for.
The Barnabas Connection will host the Christmas Store in a donated location at 600 FM 3237 December 4, 6 and 8th.
Ways you can help – Please donate NEW:
household items like blankets and sheets, small heaters
toys, games, art supplies for children of all ages
sporting goods – like footballs, basketballs, bicycles and helmets
children’s socks and underwear and coats
small tools, caps and gloves
- cash for us to shop for similar items. (Checks can be made to the Barnabas Connection designated for the Christmas Store and are tax-deductible.)
Please bring all items to a participating partner: Wimberley UMC, Unity of Wimberley, Cypress Creek Church or Wimberley Presbyterian; or by the Barnabas Connection Flood Recovery office (14100 RR 12, Suite 600) by Sunday, November 20 to allow time for pricing.
